1. They’re often lost in their own world

Girls with ADHD often appear withdrawn, lost in their thoughts, or daydreaming. Unlike boys with ADHD, who  may act out or be disruptive in class or social settings, girls are more likely to quietly drift off into their own  world. Their behavior tends to be more subtle, which often leads to it being overlooked by teachers, peers,  and even family members.

2. Poor organisation skills + forgetfulness

One of the most common signs of ADHD in girls is disorganization. They may struggle to keep track of  assignments, personal items, or even day-to-day tasks. More often than not, this leads to frustration and  embarrassment, especially when they can’t remember important things or meet due dates. These struggles  can affect their performance in school, and can cause additional stress, leaving them discouraged.

3. Difficulty following instructions

Girls with ADHD may find it challenging to follow multi-step instructions, especially if the task is complex or if  they get distracted easily. It’s not that they don’t want to succeed—it’s simply harder for them to focus on all the  details at once, which can lead to mistakes or confusion. This can be frustrating for both them and those  around them.

4. Chronic procrastination

Another common issue is procrastination. Girls with ADHD often put off tasks until the last minute, especially if  the task doesn’t interest them. They may find it really hard to focus on things that don’t excite them, leading to  a last-minute rush and increased stress. This stressful cycle can negatively impact their overall productivity.

5.Lower self-esteem

Constantly feeling like they’re not meeting expectations and being frequently corrected can seriously impact  anyone’s self-esteem, not just girls. They might begin to feel like they’re not capable, or that they can’t keep  up with their peers. This can lead to feelings of inadequacy, self-doubt, and a lack of confidence in their  abilities. Over time, this can make them hesitant to try new things, out of fear of failing or being a  disappointment to others.
